About FIRST:
FIRST inspires students to go to college and have careers in science, technology, engineering, and math – fields that are desperately needed for our country to be competitive globally in the years to come. FIRST programs use robotics as the medium to provide students with opportunities to develop technical skills.
But being on a FIRST team is “more than just a robot.” At the high school level, the financial and logistical aspects of the FIRST programs are challenging — mirroring the demands of modern enterprise — too much to do, in too little time, with too few resources. The FIRST experience challenges students to work harder than they ever have before. As a result, the FIRST experience raises expectations, builds self-confidence, and changes lives.
