2016 FRC Kickoff – Greater Pittsburgh

Note that the 2015 Western PA FLL Grand Championship will be held on the same day, 1/9/16, at nearby LaRoche College.

  • Pick up your team’s Kit of Parts
  • Discuss robot strategies with other FRC teams and mentors
  • Learn about upcoming initiatives from local FIRST leaders
  • Participate in the Robot Quick Build to see how it all works

What to Bring:

  • Team roster – Team leaders can print this out from TIMS
  • Consent Forms for team members who have not completed the online consent form (with parental approval if under 18) on STIMS.  Please note: Consent forms must also be completed by adults who are attending the Kickoff. Extra forms will be available on site.
  • Laptops with encrypted game manual already downloaded – watch the FIRST website for more info [Note from 2015: Be sure to try the Decryption Test page to make sure the game manual password (revealed at Kickoff) will work on your computer.]
  • Recommended: dolly or cart with team number clearly marked (for the Kit of Parts)
  • If you’re participating in the Quick Build session, bring the list of tools listed on the Quick Build sessions page.

8:00 – 8:50 AM Team Check-in & Registration
9:00 – 10:15 AM Local Program led by the FIRST Regional Director – Western & Central PA
10:15 – 10:30 AM Break
10:30 – 11:05 AM Kickoff Broadcast from FIRST Headquarters – ends with “The Reveal” of the 2016 FRC game challenge

(Note: Since we will not know the lengtth of the broadcast in advance, the following times are approximate

11:20 AM- 12 NOON Team Reps (1 to 3 per team): Kit of Parts distribution

All others: Brainstorming / Strategy Sessions led by volunteers; record ideas on chart paper

12:10 PM- 1 PM View the 2016 FRC Field & Game Elements (location TBD)

Share strategy session results by posting on chart paper near the Field/Game Elements;

Networking – meet and greet fellow FRC Teams!

Lunch Pre-order by 1pm, 12/23/15 ; (details were emailed to team leaders)
1 PM- 5:00 PM Robot Quick Build Session (pre-register by emailing pdepra@firstinspires.org by Fri Dec 18, 2015
